Let it Snow
As seen on Martha Stewart site...
So it is possible to enjoy the magic of a snowfall without putting on your gortex boots and leaving the comfort of your warm home! Remember those snow shake globes? Well, I see it is possible to make one of your very own! Be creative and use your imagination...
Use any type of glass jar, and then look for plastic or ceramic figurines (metal ones are prone to rust) at any dollar store or hobby shops. Synthetic evergreen tips are available at many craft stores, such as Michaels. If the jar lids are not in seasonal colors already, you can paint them with oil-based enamel paint. Sand the inside of the lid until the surface is rough. With clear-drying epoxy, stick the figurine to the inside of the lid, and let the epoxy dry. Fill the jar almost to the top with distilled water; add a pinch of glitter and a dash of glycerin (available at drugstores) to keep the glitter from falling too quickly. (Martha notes not to add too much of the glitter or it will stick to the bottom of the jar when it’s flipped).
Screw on the lid tightly, being careful not to dislodge the figurine. Turn the jar over and back again— shake it all about!!
Oh ya, baby! It's a white Christmas for us West Coast dwellers!
Let it snow. Oh, let it snow.. let it snow...
