A Canadian Connection

Inspired by Japanese design, a Zaishu (meaning "small seat") is a slot together, flat pack seat and table featuring unique artwork and prints. The design is eco-friendly as plantation grown wood veneer and water based inks/varnish are used as the components. Many artists are involved in the design-making process including prints by Spacecraft in Australia as well as Canadian talent such as Ben Davidson, Nicolas Smit, Kirsten Taylor, and Propellor Design Group in Vancouver (as per the Zaishu Project of 30 Days of Sustainablity)...

Stewart Russell of Spacecraft collections is one of the masterminds behind the gorgeous prints of these designs. He was born in Scotland, studied fine art in England and Canada and currently lives and works in Melbourne Australia (where I lived for a while way back when... an enchanting place!). He maintains an international profile as a textile designer while working in collaboration with many Australian, New Zealand, and UK artists to create a stunning array of print designs. Truly talented in all realms of the art and design world. Here are some more of his creations...
