Gung Hay Fat Choy!

Tashi Delek! Gung Hei Faat Choi!
Translation: a Tibetan greeting and "Best wishes... have a prosperous and successful new year"
The Chinese New Year marks the end of winter and the beginning of spring.... and the ushering in of the new year of the Pig (or rather Golden Pig which only happens every 5 cycles of the zodiac or 60 years) heralded to be a year of abundance, fertility and prosperity. It is a time for family reunions, for honouring ancestors and for giving thanks for the multitude of blessings.
I am off to historic Chinatown to enjoy a day full of glowing red lanterns, traditional lion dance and delicious Silk Road Tea ...

Pretty cool, eh. If you know Vic, it is pretty much on the northeast corner of the MEC building on Government street. Can't walk by without admiring...

Coo. Did you add that little bit about whre it was to the post or did I completely not see it? Because then I will be embarassed. Otherwise I will have to look for it if I ever make it to Victoria (it's on the list!), along with Smoking Lily, apparently! I am missing out!

Lots to see and do here in the Garden City... check out my post on the lastest ad campaign by Victoria Tourism... quite the va-va voom controversy!!
I didn't put the exact location in the post! (:
The precise spot is southeast corner of Government/Pandora intersection. Chinatown is one block north on Fisgard Street. Cool place!
