A Pig and a Spider...

Ohhh.... such wonder... tis Charlotte's Web by E.B. White

A classic tale now turned into a Hollywood film which has opened today in theatres... Yippee!
One of my all time favourite books...

An amazing story of friendship, love, hardship, courage, loyalty, and of course the 'circle of life'....

Remember this wonderful tale?

When a young farm girl discovers that her dad is about to slaughter the runt from the newest litter of pigs as "he is small and weak and will never amount to anything" she rushes to the aid of this helpless little piglet. He has a change of heart when he sees that she is genuinely concerned about the pig and so he lets her keep him as a pet, temporarily. She names him Wilbur.

Dear dear Wilbur...

This is the start of an enduring relationship between Wilber and Fern... and all the other animals on the farm, especially a kind-hearted spider named Charlotte. It is through Charlotte's magical weavings that she finds a way to ultimately save Wilbur's life. Ohhhh.... sniff, sniff.

Since its publication in 1952, Charlotte's Web has remained a classic tale cherished by young and old alike. Charlotte's Web will pull at your heartstrings, but there are important messsages that radiate from this beautiful story. And the messages include empathy and kindness and love... and the ability to open our eyes to the wonder and magic found in the simplest of things.

The perfect season to read or watch this wonderful story...

"The whole idea of compassion is based on a keen awareness of the interdependence of all living beings, which are all part of one another, and all involved in one another."

- Thomas Merton

Oh, how I adore pigs.....
